Nokia to axe up to 124 jobs in Finland

Telecommunications giant Nokia is planning to reduce up to 124 employees in Finland as a part of its austerity measures, reported a leading Finnish language national daily Helsingin Sanomat on Thursday.

According to the preliminary estimation, up to 63 jobs will be cut in Espoo, 11 in Tampere and 50 in Oulu, said the report.

Earlier on February 25, the company started a codetermination talks in this regard and at the preliminary stage it estimated to cut a maximum of 156 jobs.

The final number of the job reduction will be confirmed by April 22 and the company will inform its employees about the final decision in this regard.

Nokia employs about 6,600 people in Finland.

Earlier in October 2023, Nokia announced to cut 9000 to 14000 jobs including 450 in Finland with the view to save an amount between EUR 800 million and EUR 1 200 million by the end of 2026.
