The Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy has decided in favour of recruiting 500 young people for fixed-term positions in central government this year, said an official press release on Tuesday.
An appropriation of EUR 4 million will be reserved for the recruitment in the second supplementary budget for 2026.
Young people aged 18–25 who are applying for their first job or traineeship in central government will be hired on a fixed-term basis for a maximum of three months.
“A first job or traineeship is often a decisive step for young people in their transition to working life, helping them build up their skills and strengthening their confidence in the future. With this recruitment drive, we want to support young people in the early stages of their careers and encourage businesses to offer these important first opportunities to as many young people as possible,” said Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Anna-Kaisa Ikonen in the press release.
