The Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday that it will close the Polish Consulate General in Kaliningrad from Aug. 29, reported Xinhua.
In a statement, the ministry said it had summoned the Polish charge d'affaires in Moscow on Friday to inform the envoy of the decision, adding that it was in response to Poland's closure of the Russian Consulate General in Krakow, effective June 30, 2025.
The ministry noted that the move was caused by "the unjustified and hostile actions of the Polish side."
In May, Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski announced the closure of the Russian Consulate in Krakow, citing evidence that Russian intelligence services were behind a deliberate act of sabotage targeting a major shopping center in Warsaw. Russia has denied any involvement and accused Poland of Russophobia.
