
Eight people were injured in a knife attack at a village festival in Egling in the southern German state of Bavaria on late Saturday night, German Press Agency (dpa) reported Sunday, reported Xinhua.
Police were alerted to the incident at approximately 11:45 p.m. local time. According to initial findings, an unidentified assailant struck a 24-year-old man in the head without warning. As the victim fell, he reportedly saw the attacker stab his 16-year-old friend in the forearm. The suspect then went on to injure six other people.
Authorities confirmed a total of eight people required medical treatment and were transported to local hospitals. The severity of their injuries was not immediately known.
Despite an extensive search, the suspect remains at large. The police are reviewing video footage and have appealed to the public for witnesses.
The festival activities on Saturday had attracted around 700 people to take part in.
