Six people were killed and eight others injured in a series of shootings linked to a restaurant dispute in Türkiye's southern Mersin province on Monday, the semi-official Anadolu Agency reported, said Xinhua.
The violence began in the Camliyayla district, where a suspect armed with a pump-action shotgun allegedly shot and killed his ex-wife on a street, according to the report.
The suspect then drove to a restaurant in the Tarsus district and opened fire from his car, killing the owner and an employee. Anadolu said the suspect had a prior dispute with the restaurant owners.
A shepherd nearby was also struck by pellets and later died in a hospital. The suspect later killed two more people in another neighborhood, Anadolu reported.
Security forces launched an air and ground manhunt, setting up roadblocks in parts of Mersin and the neighboring province of Adana while monitoring the area with helicopters and drones.
The attacks came weeks after two rare school shootings in southeastern Türkiye in April that left 10 people dead and nearly 30 injured, prompting authorities to tighten school security nationwide.
