Three young children and a 37-year-old man were discovered dead in a flat in the eastern German town of Meissen on Sunday night, in what police believe was a homicide, reported dpa.
Police said they don't believe anyone else was involved in the crime, and said the 37-year-old man was the father of the children.
Emergency services found the children and the man lifeless at around 9 pm (2000 GMT) on Sunday in the town, located about 25 kilometres north-west of Dresden.
An emergency doctor at the scene could not immediately determine the cause of death, according to a statement from police.
The children were between the ages of 1 and 3 years old.
The police cordoned off the scene and began to secure evidence and interview local residents.
