Two skiers died and another was injured in an avalanche in the Austrian alpine state of Tyrol on Monday morning, local authorities said, reported Xinhua.
The victims were part of a six-person group. According to Austrian broadcaster ORF, the two skiers, aged 58 and 60, were swept away by snow and fell ten meters into a crevasse on the glacier.
The injured skier was rescued with minor injuries and taken to hospital. The skier was later released in the afternoon.
The avalanche triggered a large-scale search operation. Two emergency medical helicopters and a police helicopter were deployed, along with two mountain rescue teams and the Alpine Police, ORF reported.
